2015 CONFERENCE

August 13-16
Lexington, KY
Hosted by COMPANY Q

The annual conference is a time to reconnect with peers and welcome new members to the PYTA family. At the 2015 Conference, participants shared stories and samples of work from their respective programs and led workshops on best practices in the field. Conference participants were also treated to a performance of RIPPLES, an original play written and presented by the youth of Company Q, a performance and social justice theatre troupe for young people focusing on queer issues in Lexington, KY.

ABOUT COMPANY Q

Company Q, the 2015 Conference Host, exists to provide a space for LGBTQQIA+ young people in central Kentucky to explore their lives through the performing arts, connect in meaningful ways to the world around them, and educate the community. The program focuses on relevant queer, gender, and ally issues facing young people through improvisation, devising, and ensemble building.

Founded in 2012 through the generous support of the Mukti Fund, Company Q is housed at Lexington's Pride Community Services Organization. Company Q premiered their first original production in 2014, has performed at Lexington's Pride Festival, and has hosted panel discussions. Additionally, Company Q, in conjunction with the University of Kentucky's Theatre Department, produced the world premiere of Do Zebrafish Dream of Being Poisoned In Their Sleep? written by UK student, Elizabeth Kilcoyne. We are excited to present our newest original play, Ripples, in June. Company Q looks forward to having you in the Bluegrass for the 2015 PYTA conference!
