PYTA Is Hiring: Part-Time Development Consultant
The Pride Youth Theater Alliance (PYTA) is seeking a part-time Development Consultant who demonstrates savvy communications skills and a successful track record in fundraising, grant writing, and working with foundations. The ideal candidate will be available for a combined average of 40 hours per month over a 12 month period, December 2015 – September 2016: Up to 4 hours per-month of verbal check-ins with the PYTA Director and 36 hours per-month of grant research, stewardship, writing, editing, tracking, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Support the PYTA Director in preparing, submitting, and managing funding proposals to foundations and corporate donors.
Conduct research to evaluate potential grant opportunities based on mission, region, and program focus.
Attend weekly status meetings with the PYTA Director.
Communicate with corporate and foundation grant officers.
Evaluate and report progress of assigned goals and objectives.
Understand and communicate institutional history, priorities, and values of PYTA.
Maintain records of completed work in calendars and database records, including grant tracking and reporting.
Track, record, and submit a timesheet of hours worked on a monthly basis.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong written communication skills, with a proven ability to write and edit clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
Knowledge of fundraising databases and information sources.
Knowledge of best practices for communicating and reporting to institutional donors.
Knowledge of basic techniques and strategies for prospect research and fundraising.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
Qualifications:
2—3 years experience grant writing and non-profit fundraising, including work on national or cross-regional applications and proposals.
Successful track record with non-profit fundraising and donor cultivation.
Experience with successful models of youth leadership development and mentorship.
Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
Experience working with LGBT populations and in Communities of Color.
Familiarity and understanding of the non-profit arts, human services, and theatre education sectors.
Able to monitor and meet income goals.
Position Type:
Consultant contract (1099), non-exempt, part-time position, with the possibility of renewal based on success.
Compensation:
$1,500 per-month; Average 40 hours per-month; not to exceed 400 work hours between December 2015 – September 2016.
Work Conditions:
The Development Consultant collaborates with, and is directly supervised by, the PYTA Director.
