PYTA Members Made a Huge Impact at Creating Change 2016!

PYTA members made a huge impact at this year's Creating Change Conference, the largest annual gathering of LGBTQ activists hosted by the National LGBTQ Task Force.

A total of 26 individual PYTA members, representing 8 queer youth theater ensembles, gathered in Chicago last month, making it the largest gathering of PYTA members beyond our annual Queer Youth Theater Conference. Members who attended Creating Change 2015 returned to lead a wildly successful workshop: Games Exchange - Break the Ice with the Pride Youth Theater Alliance. Over 55 conference attendees participated in games and activities that highlighted and demonstrated the values of our growing field!

Additional workshops by PYTA members included Hip Hop and Queer Performance facilitated by Sidney Monroe and ViQuan Smith from The Theater Offensive; Act Out with BlackOUT - Black Queer Truth Telling Through Theater facilitated by Kaamila Mohamed and Eziah Blake from BlackOUT; and a performance of It's For Real by members of About Face Youth Theater.

Congratulations to all of the participating members from The Theater Offensive, LOUD: New Orleans Queer Youth Theater, Out & Allied Youth Theatre, The Door - A Center of Alternatives, About Face Theatre, Dreams of Hope, BlackOUT, and Carolinas Pride Theater Ensemble!
