Green Bay, Wisconsin - Wednesday, August 30, 2017 -- Wisconsin's own Proud Theater is coming to Green Bay. Proud Theater is an award-winning program of Art & Soul Innovations that encourages LGBTQI+ and allied young people between the ages of 13 and 18 years old to share their personal stories through original theatrical works that they present to the community throughout the school year.

 

To establish the Green Bay chapter, which has received support from the LaForce Family Foundation, Proud Theater officials will be on-hand for an informational session for interested youth and adults on September 23, 2017.

Establishment of Proud Theater - Green Bay

 

Who

Proud Theater - Green Bay will ultimately provide mentoring and opportunities for creative expression for area LGBTQI+ and allied youth, ages 13-19.

 

Establishing this chapter requires the active participation of adults with a wide range of skill sets. We especially encourage those with a background in theater and the performing arts, publicity, fundraising, and community outreach to attend, as well as those interested in being mentors for LGBTQI+ youth in the region, or who are willing to assist with the overall development of the chapter. If that's you, please attend!

 

Youth interested in the theater program are also highly encouraged to attend.

About Proud Theater:

Proud Theater is an award-winning, exciting and innovative youth theater program whose mission is 'to change the world through the power of theater and the theater arts, and to make a positive difference in the lives of LGBTQI+ and allied youth through the tenets of art, heart, and activism'. Founded in 1999 in Madison, Wisconsin, there are now five chapters in the state including two chapters in Madison (Proud Theater and Proud Theater Beyond designed for 18-24 year olds), Milwaukee, Wausau, and Sun Prairie. Proud Theater is open to youth ages 13 to 18 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, or who are allied with the queer community (LGBTQI+).  Proud Theater is also open to youth with LGBTQI+ parents.

 

Empowering and creative, Proud Theater encourages young people to share their own stories through original theatrical works which they then present to the community at large throughout the school year.
