Hiring: LOUD Co-director
LOUD is a New Orleans based radical youth theater ensemble guided by four core values: undoing oppression, youth leadership, solidarity, and a commitment to devised theater. Every year we hire a group of LGBTQ youth between the ages 13 to 21 to explore the connections between art and politics by making original performance together. At LOUD, we understand that our existence is political and we are committed to creating work that speaks to the lived experience of our ensemble. We see art as an opportunity to raise the political consciousness of our ensemble members and our audiences, as well as an opportunity to sustain our community.
As we enter into our 6th season, we are excited to expand our team. We highly encourage Black/POC LGBTQ New Orleans Natives to apply.
LOUD’s youth ensemble is supported by three adult co-directors who work collaboratively to sustain the organization. We operate as a collective, making decisions by consensus. Co-directors are collectively responsible for:
Creating curriculum for the ensemble’s political and artistic education
Facilitating pieces of curriculum and hiring guest artists
Supervising and mentoring ensemble members
Fundraising for the ensemble
Producing annual performance
Resourcing emotional and physical support needs of ensemble members
Convening LOUD’s faerie council
We are seeking a third co-director to join current co-directors Indee Mitchell and Rachel Lee. Qualifications for this role include:
Theater experience, especially in acting and/or playwriting
Experience working with youth with strong understanding of adultism and health boundaries
Highly collaborative and strong communication skills
Commitment to LOUD’s core values
We are working towards a vision of the ensemble becoming entirely youth-run so anyone in this position must be eager to work themselves out of a job.
Part Time: 10 hrs/week at $20/hr
To apply: email your resume and a brief letter describing why you are interested in working with LOUD to email@example.com
