What's Been Going On:
In October, Sisi closed Theater Alliance’s production of The Events, where she acted and sang in the Choir/Ensemble (see below). The Events was Helen Hayes Awards Recommended and considered a “praiseworthy ensemble” by DC Metro Theatre Arts. After its closing, Sisi went on to successfully complete Theatre Lab’s Life Stories Institute Training where she learned methods in facilitating theatre with vulnerable populations based on their life experiences. Recently, she did her first feature as a spoken word performer at a monthly Rhymez and Rhythmz Performing Arts Series open mic. Sisi also completed her first session as co-facilitator with Voices Unbarred. After co-facilitating a month of weekly workshops with a cohort of more than 30 incarcerated men, Sisi watched them perform their original play “Dear America: Disconnect Between Perception and Truth”. A play which explored themes of violence, redemption, and personal responsibility through poetry, forum theatre, and skits.

In December, she will be teaching theatre and playwriting at Anacostia Playhouse’s Winter Break Camp. Sisi is excited to continue teaching, acting, and working in the DMV theatre community full time.
